I have searched and have found the way
I always feel privileged to have been born into a Catholic family, wrapped by the loving atmosphere and filled with Catholic tradition, I have no problem when the three existential questions appear: who am I? where have I come from? where am I going? Most religions try to offer an explanation and a method to reach the ultimate happiness of life whatever way they define it. Being a Catholic, I have a strong conviction about where I come from and where I go after death. That I come from God and will return back to God. Just from here to there is quite a journey. How to live this life is a question that most people struggle with.
I have lived life fully like other young people with a decent education, a stable job, a nice family to live in, and a good circle of friends to socialize with. But one day, I reached a critical point: I wondered if this is the kind of life that I am called to? How will I answer God when facing Him at the end of my days? For the question: “what have you done with the life I gave you?” What will be my answer? That awareness awakened me and stayed with me. It urged me to change and respond.God gave me the desire, and I strongly believed that he would fulfill it. He has led me to the door of Carmel and paved my way straight to Kilmacud. It took a proper process of communication with the community, discernment, consultation with my spiritual director, and a live-in period. So, when I entered the door of Kilmacud again in December 2024, it felt like home seeing the welcoming faces of our beloved sisters.
Day after day, I am grateful to Our Almighty God for the marvelous thing he has done for me. That He brought me to the environment where I could please Him best. In the silence of heart, in the desire to be united with our true God, my prayers would not be limited to my family and friends only, but they would spread to the world, to everyone in need.
Every day I wake up, I remind myself of the promise of God in Psalm 37:4:
“If you find your delight in the Lord,
He will grant your heart’s desire.”
Yes, if I live in Him, He will live in me. I thank God and pray that my life, my path, may be pleasing to Him always.
